First thoughts of Critter Cove

Today is the day that Critter Cove releases! It looks super cute, and before I act impulsively (Which would not be a shock to anyone..) I decided to try out their free demo first! These are my first thoughts of this new cozy game, after playing one (in game) day! :)
To start off, the character customization completely blew me away! There are SO MANY OPTIONS. I could easily spend hours in just the customization. There are so many faces, eyes, ears, tails, fur patterns and more to choose from, and on top of that, you have complete freedom to customize your colors EXACTLY how you want. Between mixing and matching different animal parts, and then customizing every single color on your character, the possibilities are truly endless. I ended up with this cute possum gal.

You then approach your island in a lil boat, and your life begins. You are instructed to speak with a seedy lil rat character (though I shouldn't judge, because I'm a possum...) and to meet two islanders who have already settled. Their personalities are really charming and unique right off the bat.

I spent some time exploring as much of the island as I could, and it's so quirky and I really appreciate all the little details. One of my favorite things I discovered were these drumsticks growing on stalks!

You are also instructed to find an empty plot to call your home. There are a handful of plots around, some more obvious than others. Thanks to my exploring, I found this adorable little alley full of colorful umbrellas. And right before my eyes, an empty plot sat. I found my home. :)

I also met a slightly rude, kiiiinda creepy, character.. Copperbottom. He speaks in an interesting way.. and I hope you never run into him at night, because he shines his lights into your soul.

The Verdict:
With completing my first in game day, I can say with confidence that I am going to continue playing! There's collecting resources, crafting, decorating your own home, crops (I think?) and also I believe fishing! I'm honestly picky when it comes to a games graphics, the way a character runs, etc, and luckily this game didn't bother me in any of those ways. It's a really unique, yet smooth experience that makes my brain happy. :)
